In January is the book launch of 'My Cloth-Eared Heart' by RTB favourite Melanie Branton!
Our ’Spotlight’ events have an extended poetry open mic aiming to champion, nurture and platform local artists putting the spotlight on Bath and the South West's outstanding emerging talent pool, providing a relaxed and welcoming environment for newbies, veterans and anybody in between to perform their work in a safe space. It’s a perfect opportunity to perform to a warm and intimate audience at the lovely Komedia Arts Cafe in the centre of Bath, or to just sit back and watch some great poetry for a cheap price.
Tickets are available on the door only for this event. Please arrive promptly if you wish to sign up for the open mic on the door!
ARTS CAFÉ: Rowed Seating. Arrive early for the best seats. Please contact us if you have specific access requirements.
Melanie Branton writes and performs poetry, and is a multiple slam winner. Melanie came second in the Bristol Poetry Festival Slam in 2014 and 2017, won the Hammer and Tongue Bristol regional final in 2015 and won Superheroes of Slam Bristol 2017. Her combination of comedy and more serious work have made her a popular headliner at numerous poetry nights across the South West and beyond. Her debut collection 'My Cloth-Eared Heart', the same title as her hit 2017 Edinburgh Fringe show, was recently published by Oversteps.
“When I first saw Melanie perform a set in Bristol, I was laughing out loud and leaning in on the edge of my seat intently to hear more all in the space of 20 minutes. A fantastic poet with a great mix of dry humour and real-life heart and emotion " - Harry Baker
