Beginning to Speak: Diana Anphimiadi, Jean Sprackland and Natalia Bukia-Peters.
An evening of friendship and poetry, in English and Georgian.
Acclaimed Georgian poet Diana Anphimiadi will read from her latest chapbook, Beginning to Speak, alongside her English poet-translator Jean Sprackland. The two poets will talk about their work, together with leading local translator Natalia Bukia-Peters, exploring the weird and wonderful things that happen when you carry poems from one language to another. All welcome and no knowledge of Georgian required!
Diana Anphimiadi’s poetry upends the world, the vistas of eternity can be glimpsed in daily activities and the women of Greek Mythology are called up to give their frank testimony from beyond the grave.
