The Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award 2018 is now open for entries and in its 20th anniversary year will be judged by Caroline Bird and Daljit Nagra.
The competition is open to any writer aged 11-17 on the deadline of 31 July 2018. Entries must be written and English, and entry is completely free.
One of the biggest competitions for young poets in the world, the award has been finding the best writing talent since 1998. Since its inception the award has kick started the careers of some of the most exciting new voices. Previous winners including Sarah Howe, Helen Mort, Jay Bernard and one of this year’s judges, Caroline Bird.
The top 100 selected poets (15 top winners and 85 commended), receive a range of prizes, from mentoring to a place on a life-changing Arvon writing course, from The Poetry Society membership to a stack of poetry goodies. They also continue to receive support and development opportunities from The Poetry Society.
This is an extra special year for the competition as it celebrates its 20th anniversary.
